My own health journey is what sparked my passion for holistic nutrition and women’s health.
I was exactly where you are now, discouraged, tired of googling my symptoms, and over feeling out of control in my body. When I was 22 I lost my period for almost 2 years after being on the birth control pill for 7 years. I went on it at 15 “to help regulate my period” when I came off the pill I was at the height of my disordered eating which looked like restricting calories and carbohydrates, I was over exercising and doing high intensity workouts every day, never resting, and dealing with a heightened stress response and cortisol and nervous system dysregulation due to PTSD from my childhood. My body didn’t know how to regulate itself or how to have a regular menstrual cycle on its own and it definitely didn’t feel safe enough to do so because I was living in a constant state of “fight-or-flight”.
I was so disconnected from my body, my hormones were all over the place, I felt terrible all the time, and no matter what I did things were not shifting.
I was tired of having my symptoms dismissed and feeling like I wasn’t being taken seriously by countless different doctors, so I started to look for the answers myself.
